Metal Hearts
Socialize
[Suicide Squeeze; 2006]
Grade: A

Reviewers: Aaron Seelig & Spud Swenson [KNDS DJs]

It’s kind of ironic that Metal Hearts decided to title their debut album ‘Socialize’ since in no way could a person possibly socialize with this music in the background. This by no means takes away from the album. Its soft, melodic drones have a way of zoning out the listener. The placid vocals are mixed in perfectly with an array of different instrumentals, whether it be electronic beats, cello, saxophone, or piano.

The overall sound is comparable to Modest Mouse vocals combined with a Pinback or Earlimart composition. It’s a very mellow album, capable of captivating a dull mind. Putting a good start to 2006, this is an essential album to all music enthusiasts. To listen to this and all the best indie music on the radio, tune into KNDS (105.9), Saturdays 2-4 PM.
